ASESINADO A LOS 40 AÑOS Se cumplen 28 años de la muerte de John Lennon En la fecha se recuerda un aniversario más de la muerte del ex líder de la banda musical The Beatles, John Lennon, asesinado en 1980 frente al edificio donde vivía en Nueva York. El legado de Lennon es innegable en la música contemporánea. Lennon había cumplido 40 años en octubre de 1980 y preparaba un nuevo disco luego del éxito de “Double Fantasy”. El nuevo disco nunca se concretó porque el conocido pacifista fue asesinado por Mark Chapman frente al edificio Dakota de Nueva York, donde vivía con su esposa Yoko Ono. Desde ese día, todos los 8 de diciembre, los fanáticos del músico se reúnen en la zona conocida como “Strawberry fiels” del Central Park de Nueva York y le rinden homenaje. Hace exactamente 28 años, cuando Lennon volvía a su departamento con Yoko Ono recibió cuatro balazos disparados por Chapman, quien le había solicitado un autógrafo en la tarde del mismo día. El ex beatle falleció camino al hospital en brazos de su esposa. Chapman se encuentra preso desde entonces y cada año se le niega la libertad que pretende.

Esta es la canción que da titulo al primer disco de Julian Lennon, sin duda la voz proviene de su padre John, al parecer luego a Julian no le gustaria la comparación pues queria hacer una carrera sin las sombras del famoso padre, pero sin dudas la voz es parecida a John.

Espectacular: Starting Over

"(Just Like) Starting Over" is a song written and performed by John Lennon for his Double Fantasy album. The B-side was Yoko Ono's "Kiss Kiss Kiss". It reached number one in both the USA and UK when it was released as a single in 1980. This was the first single released from Double Fantasy, chosen by Lennon not because it was the best track on the album, but because it was the most appropriate following his five year absence from the recording industry. He referred to it during production as the 'Elvis/Orbison' track, as he 'tongue in cheek' impersonated their vocal style. The uplifting bell at the intro of the song serves as the antidote to the morose bell sound which opens Lennon's first solo album, Lennon seeing it as him having come full circle. The original title was to be 'Starting Over'. (Just Like) was added at the last minute because a Country and Western song was released at the same time.
